Welcome to Workout Wednesdays! For the month of march I will be highlighting an exercise that is commonly done incorrect and highlight ways to make sure you have the best form and are performing these exercises in the safest way possible. Todays exercise is Sit Ups! Sit ups are a great way to engage almost all of the core muscles. Sit ups or crunches are one of the most commonly incorrectly performed workouts out there and if not done correctly can put strain on the back and neck. Here are some steps to take to ensure good food during a sit up: - Lie down on the floor with feet planted flat on the ground and knees bent at 45 degree angle - Place finger tips right behind both ears, DO NOT pull from behind the neck - Bend at the hips and use lower abdominal muscles to pull yourself off of the ground. - Lower back down slowly to starting position Be sure to check in with your form next time you try a plank up to maximize the benefits and reduce injury!
